MOTIVATION CAMP (SEK. MEN. TEKNIK KUALA SELANGOR, BATANG BERJUNTAI)

Introduction and objectives

Motivation Camp is organized by School of Health Informatics Masterskill University College of Health Sciences (MUCH) in collaboration with Student Affair Department. Its main objective is to give student learn how to achieve or how to find a good motivation for themselves but at the same time they can apply it when they are outside from the college. It also can strengthen the relationships among Health Informatics student with the outsiders. The programmes objectives are as follow:

1. To expose the MUCH students about management, leadership and soft skills, group bindings and etc.
2. To provide students with good manners, values and ethics which extremely important for the students in facing the real world.
3. To provide fun learning programme for the MUCH students & school student.
4. To prepare school students with general ideas of campus life which they need to do some adjustment.


Activities

1. 1st Day (16 January 2009)

We departure from Masterskill University College of Health and Science (MUCH) at 12.00pm and we arrive at the school at 1.20 pm. The male Muslim facilitator were send to the mosque for Friday Prayer and the other were send to the school for preparation for the opening ceremony event. At 3.00 pm, the opening ceremony event was started and the event was attended by the school Head Master, Tuan Haji Jamaluddin Bin Ahmad. At 4.00 pm, the ceremony was finish and the next event was conducted by the Program Coordinator, Siti Zulaikha. The first session of the day is the “Ice Breaking” sessions. In this session, the facilitator will gain confidence from the school student toward them. Also the facilitator will be evaluating in their performance to conduct in this sessions. At first, the facilitator are handling the sessions were good but after a while their lost control of the session because of lack of communication and commitment to their original goal of this program. The lack of performance of the facilitator also because of their experience in the field of motivation other people and in this program, the facilitator will gain experience from time to time. At night, the second session of the program is started. In this session facilitator will introduce them self to their group that had been given and their will get to know the group by using the module that have been provided. Also, the performances of the facilitators are at 30%, and the factor of the down performance is the time wasting of the group to find their facilitator and the lack communication between the top management and the facilitator. Also, the sudden changes in the activity are one of the factors of the lack performance in this session.


2. 2nd Day (17 January 2009)

In the morning, the first activity is a sport friendly match that includes football and netball. The result of the friendly match by categories, football match win by the school (4-1) and netball match win by the school also (10-7). Also, it is a disappointment by the way the facilitator handle the activity. Their performances are below par and not shown any improvement. In the afternoon, the third session that is the motivation speech begins and the facilitator go for a short meeting. After the meeting, the facilitator had request a permission to give a chance to handle the fourth session of the program from the lecturer. We give them a chance to handle the session and their also did not took the chance to improve. This is because of lack communication between them. In the evening, En. Zainuddin, the Student Affair of MUCH, call all the facilitator for a short meeting and try to motivate them to improve their performance and discuss for the preparation of the next session in the evening. In the fifth sessions, the “Potrait Ibu”, the facilitators have improved their performance at 75% and the sessions have been a success. The school students were motivated and have defined their regret to their facilitator. The teacher also had shown their gratitude to all the facilitator for their hard working and motivation toward their student.


3. 3rd Day (18 January 2009)

In the third day, the last session “Treasure Hunt”, test the student quickness and their knowledge to over calm the question given by the facilitators. Also, in this session, facilitator have shown their highest and best performance ever since came to this school for handling the program. The school student also showed their co-operation with their group and facilitator. After the session, the students are ordered to change their closed and the facilitators are order to prepare the hall and the gimmick for the closing ceremony. At 3.00 pm, the closing ceremony event was started and the ceremony had been attended by Head of Hostel Warden, En. Jamali Bin Mohd Nor, represent for the Head Master of the school, and En. Dasuki Bin Wahab, Senior Executive Student Affair Department, represent Vice President of MUCH. The closing ceremony was a success and after the ceremony the photograph session was took in place. The bus for MUCH came at 4.00 pm and after the photograph session all the facilitator gathers their bag and board their thing into the bus. At 4.30 pm the bus goes back to MUCH.

Summary and conclusions

Motivation Camp was a successful event. Masterskill Student and Sek. Men. Teknik Kuala Selangor student were cooperative enough to make the event runs smoothly. There were no incident occur during the carnival. We received a lot of appreciation from the teacher of Sek. Men. Teknik Kuala Selangor. They also invited our student to make another motivation camp for their school student. We managed to finish all the events as planned.
